August 3rd of this year marks the 103rd birthday anniversary of the late Habib Bourguiba, and 2006 marks the 50th anniversary of Tunisia's independence.

There is, now, a great website that constitutes a timely tribute to the architect of that independence, the man who came to be known as the father of modern Tunisia.

This sort of an online presidential library houses valuable materials related to his life, achievements, and exceptional legacy. For sure, the generations that Bouguiba "raised" will enjoy that website. In addition, present and future generations will be able to learn about the man who ranks highest among the individuals who shaped the rich History of Tunisia.

The National Conference of Tunisians living outside the Country took place on August 7, 2006 at the Abou Nawas Hotel in Tunis. The Tunisian Community Center' Public Relations Director, Jihane BenKhedher, was our delegate at the Conference.

She reported that, indicative of the level of expectation on the part of Tunisia from its citizens abroad, the themes of the Conference's two workshops were: "Role of the Tunisian expatriates in the realization of the objectives of development", and "Role of Tunisian professional women abroad in the promotion of the status of the emigrant woman".

What: The San Francisco Chapter of the Tunisian Community Center will be showcasing the Tunisian Culture at the 12th annual Arab Cultural Festival. The event will, also, be an opportunity to meet with other members of the Tunisian-American community.

When: Sunday September 17, 2006 -----------------Starts: 10 AM; Ends: 7 PM.

Where: County Fair Building, Golden Gate Park (9th Avenue & Lincoln) in San Francisco, CA.
