2006 Keynote Address Print E-mail

H.E. Mohamed Nejib Hachana, Ambassador of Tunisia to The United States[Washington-DC, May 27th 2006]

Ladies, and Gentlemen,

It gives me great pleasure, this evening to be, once again, your guest of honour for this pleasant gathering.

First, I would just like to express, on my own behalf, and on behalf of the Tunisian Community Center my warmest congratulations to the young and sportsman Ousama Mellouli, the recipient of Ibn Khaldoun Award for the year 2006.

It is, indeed, a source of pride and joy for me and, I guess, for all of you, to honour a Tunisian residing outside of our national borders, whose efforts, skills, perseverance and talent in whatever field or specialty, made him or her a shining star not only in his or her own country but equally abroad and especailly in countries where hard work is recognised and success is celebrated as here, in the USA.

I am all the more delighted to attend this annual event, that for me it is an invaluable opportunity to meet with my fellow citizens, to ask about their querries, listen to their suggestions and be attentive to their concerns.

Ladies and Genlemen,

I should not fail to recall that granting this Year, the Ibn Khaldoun Award  bears a particular significance, as we celebrate, in Tunisia through a number of conferences and symposiums the contribution of this great Scholar to Sociology.

I would, finally, like to seize this opportunity to reiterate to Mr Oussama Mellouli, my sincere congratulations for winning this Award and convey to you, by the same token, the greetings of His Excellency, President Zine EI Abidine Ben Ali as well as his best wishes, to all of you, for furhter Success in your endeavours.

Thank you for attention.
