| TUNISIAN OF THE MONTH: "Charlie of Tunisia" | | Charlie Chaplin died in Switzerland in 1977, yet one is tempted to think that he is alive and well and living in Hollywood, thanks to the extraordinary mime talent of Tunisian born actor Samir Kamoun (His birth place: Saida Manoubia). Universlal Studios of Hollywood had recognized his 27 years of service by naming him both Artist of the Month and Artist of the Year, and by making him the Studio's Goodwill Ambassador. That and his talent make him a most suitable Tunisian of the Month. Look for an interview with Samir in an upcoming issue of the Gazette. In the meantime, there is a great article about him that was pulished in the online version of the English language daily newspaper Khaleej Times (UAE). |
