    TUNISIAN EXCELLENCE

It is The Ibn Khaldun Award Program Steering Committee's pleasure to announce that Dr Takoi K. Hamrita has been selected as the recipient of the third annual Ibn Khaldun Award for her distinguished service to the Tunisian-American community.

As an Associate Professor at the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering of the University of Georgia at Athens, she is credited with having developed innovative approaches to teaching microcontrollers and conducting research programs in artificial intelligence.

In addition, Dr Hamrita was the genesis of the University of Georgia-Tunisia Educational Partnership. Considered by many as a model for international collaboration, it is a cooperative initiative that brings together four major Tunisian universities and the University of Georgia for the mutual benefit of Tunisia and the United States.

    TUNISIAN OF THE MONTH

Long before the times of Florence Nightingale and Mother Teresa, in 17th Century Tunisia, lived a woman by the name of Aziza Othmana who seems to have personified the combined qualities of those two great women. She is considered to be the one Tunisian woman who left the greatest imprint on the country's history and society.
