Social Events, Financial support for projects in Tunisia.
Since the Peace Corps pulled out of Tunisia in 1996, Friends of Tunisia tries to provide some limited financial support to needy individuals and organizations engaged in worthwhile activities. We also try to hold social events each year in the Washington area and encourage members in other parts of the country to hold similar events.

Friends of Tunisia is interested in fostering and maintaining links between the US and Tunisia. We work closely with the Tunisian embassy in Washington as well as with organizations such as the American-Tunisian Association and the Organization of Tunisian-Americans. Our quarterly newsletter provides news about Tunisia, events in the US with a Tunisian flavor, and people who have lived or worked in Tunisia. Since our membership is scattered across the country (plus Tunisia, France, and even Canada) it is difficult to conduct activities that involve all members, but we try to link members to each other.
